20 July 2018 Forests in photos
This July we hear from Paolo Salvadori, a runner up in our 2017 ‘Experience Forests, Experience PEFC’ photo contest, as he explains how forests inspire him and why they is the perfect place for taking pictures.
How do you feel about forests?
Whenever I have the opportunity to spend some free time away from my job, I go walking in the forest with my wife and friends. I love breathing the pure air and discovering new places, and I feel so lucky to live in Sardinia, which is full of forests and nature.
We all should rediscover the joy of being in the forest and learn to enjoy the silence, light and scent. These tender moments are often taken away from us in today’s hectic world.
How did the forest inspire you to take your winning photo?
What place could be better for taking family photos than a forest? Mum and dad playing with their little daughter, living the essence of nature and the pure joy of this earth among the big trees.
Forests are the perfect place for people who fully respect the habitat of animals and plants, as we have done for hundreds of thousands of years.
What you think of the work that PEFC does to care for forests?
The work of an organization such as PEFC is very important and something that we all need to value. People need to know how important it is to take care of our forests, nature, fauna and flora!
We can only continue to live and breathe if we respect these essential things, and PEFC helps to protect them. We are lucky and should be thankful to have associations like this.
