24 May 2018 Forests in photos
Light in the Forest by Fabio Bercorpi is this month’s photo in the spotlight. This beautiful image rewarded Fabio with a runner up position in our 2017 ‘Experience Forests, Experience PEFC’ photo contest.
Tell us about the photo
I took this photo during a misty morning. It was very early, there was a lot of fog and the sun was rising. The light that filters through the fronds of the trees indicates the hope that comes to man through nature.
How do you feel about forests?
This picture represents my love for forests. This is because when I was young, I always went to the woods to look for mushrooms with my dad. So for me, the forest is my youth.
What you think of the work that PEFC does to care for forests
I am very happy that there are organizations like PEFC that protect forests and certify companies according to sustainability criteria. Without forests, our mother earth could not exist. Not even people could exist.
A little about the photographer
I am not a professional photographer, but an amateur photographer. I was born in a small village in the Tuscan countryside of Italy, and I started to love photography when I was just 10 years old. My first experiences were helping my uncle in his profession as a wedding photographer. I started to shoot black and while photos with an old 60s camera, which I still have today.
