A forest is a place of peace
28 June 2018 Forests in photos
This June, Robert Sommer, a runner up in our 2017 ‘Experience Forests, Experience PEFC’ photo contest shared the story behind his stunning picture 'Sunrise in Summer', taken on one of the countless lakes of the Glaskogen Nature Reserve in Sweden.
How do you feel about forests?
A forest is a place of peace for me. I like to be out in nature and a forest has so much to offer.
How did the forest inspire you to take your winning photo?
I liked the little forest on the island in the middle of the lake. So I came back in the early morning to capture an image with the rising sun and some fog. The atmosphere was incredible: a misty veil lay across the lake and we could hear nothing but the splendid black-throated loon in the distance.
Is there anything better than taking a photo of an island in the middle of a lake? In such moments, a photographer's heart definitely beats a little faster.
What you think of the work that PEFC does to care for forests
The work of an organization such as PEFC is absolutely important and I think it should get more appreciation and a lot more public attention.
