Call for nominations – last chance to take part in a Standards Revision Working Group

The nomination of candidates for the remaining two PEFC Standards Revision Working Groups is now underway. We would like to invite all stakeholders to nominate candidates to participate in WG 4 Chain of Custody and Labelling and WG 5 Chain of Custody Certification Procedures. The nomination deadline is 7 June 2016.

WG 4 Chain of Custody and Labelling

WG 4 will work on the revision of PEFC’s Chain of Custody requirements (PEFC ST 2002:2013 and PEFC GD 2001:2014) and the PEFC Logo Use Rules (PEFC ST 2001:2008).

As our only standing WG, this call for nominations is limited to the few vacant seats in the WG. There are four seats open in the following stakeholder categories:

• Materially affected certifiable stakeholders (Forest Landowners & Managers, Forest-based Businesses and Industry) – one seat available
• End User – Customers & Consumers (Retail & Consumer, Institutional Users, Governments & Local Authorities) – two seats available
• Civil Society (NGOs; Workers & Trade Unions;  Scientific & Technological Communities; Indigenous People; Women; and Children & Youth) – one seat available

Candidates from within the fields of procurement policy (for the End User category) and E-NGOs (for the Civil Society category) in particular, are encouraged to apply.

The next meeting for WG 4 is in Geneva, 13-14 July 2016.

WG 5 Chain of Custody Certification Procedures

WG 5 will revise PEFC ST 2003:2012, which covers the requirements for certification bodies conducting PEFC Chain of Custody certification.

We are looking for nominations in all five of the stakeholder categories:

• Materially affected certifiable stakeholders (Forest Landowners & Managers, Forest-based Businesses and Industry)
• Conformity Assessment Community (Certification Bodies, Accreditation Bodies, Assessors)
• End User – Customers & Consumers (Retail & Consumer, Institutional Users, Governments & Local Authorities)
• Civil Society (NGOs; Workers & Trade Unions;  Scientific & Technological Communities; Indigenous People; Women; and Children & Youth)
• PEFC Members (PEFC National Governing Body Members)

The first meeting for WG 5 will be announced shortly.

The revision process

To secure the widest participation possible, PEFC will also engage in direct and public global consultations at various stages of the revision process. It is anticipated that the revision is finalized by the end of 2017.

During the revision process, each Working Group is expected to meet at least three times in person and in additional conference calls. Please refer to the Project Papers for further information.

Stakeholders are also invited to comment on the scope of the revision process.

Please note that participants are expected to attend the first WGs meeting in person. Expenses incurred due to a WG member’s work within the WG, especially for travelling, accommodation, phone bills, meals and working time, etc. will not be reimbursed by PEFC, unless otherwise agreed with PEFC’s Secretary General in writing.
