Mayr-Melnhof Holz and Mercer International were accepted by PEFC as international stakeholder members (ISM) during our 28th General Assembly, in Vancouver, Canada.

“We are delighted to welcome two new members to the PEFC Alliance,” said our CEO and Secretary General Michael Berger. “PEFC can benefit from the great expertise and longstanding experience of the two companies, and we are looking forward to working with them.”

“Becoming a PEFC ISM seemed like a logical step as PEFC and Mercer share common visions regarding sustainable forest management, forest certification and ESG goals,” said Lee Rueb, Forest Certification Coordinator at Mercer International.

“This symbiotic relationship is a pragmatic approach to demonstrating sustainable development verified by credible check and balances. In turn, this leads to supply chain assurance, investor confidence and an increased social licence to practice sustainable forestry.”
