Ricardo Ramos’ image ‘Génesis’ won first prize in PEFC Spain’s ‘Disfruta del Bosque con PEFC’ photo contest, out of more than 400 photographs entered into the national competition.

“It is one of the few Portuguese forests that have not been hit by fire in recent years, a quiet and beautiful place that makes you value nature,” described Mr. Ramos.

Spain second place photoJosé Martel Serrano was awarded second place with his photograph ‘¡Del revés!’ (upside down).

The image captures a European crested tit as he takes his lunch in one of the pine groves in the city of Madrid.

“A further demonstration of what a forest is capable of, even a small one,” highlighted Mr. Martel Serrano.

In third place was Amaya Salinas Solis with ‘Otoño en los bosques navarros’ (autumn in the forest from Navarre).

Spain third place photoThe photo portrays the beech forest of Quinto Real located in the northwest of the Navarra region, dyed with ocher and reddish colors.

“It is a very special place, peaceful and quiet, perfect to walk, relax and enjoy magical corners,” said Ms. Salinas Solis.

The prizes

For first place, Mr. Ramos wins a weekend for two at the stunning La Almoraima hotel convent, in the Los Alcornocales Natural Park of Southern Spain.

Mr. Martel Serrano takes away delicious and sustainable Iberian ham by Fuente La Virgen for second place, while Ms. Salinas Solis wins high quality photo paper and wooden photo frames.

All prizes are PEFC-certified, ensuring the care of the forests and their environment.

Experience Forests, Experience PEFC

PEFC Spain’s photo contest ‘Disfruta del Bosque con PEFC’ was one of 23 national photo competitions held by PEFC members around the world: from Earth Day to World Environment Day. In total, we received more than 11,000 photos!

As well as getting the chance to win a fantastic national prize, the best photos from all the national contests automatically enter the international contest and compete for the 2017 PEFC Photographer of the Year Award!

The winner of international contest will receive a trip to Helsinki, Finland to attend the 2017 PEFC Forest Certification Week or a cash prize of 3000 CHF. The top 12 photos will also be publicly exhibited during PEFC Week and be featured in the 2018 PEFC ‘Experience Forests, Experience PEFC’ photo calendar.
