2017 PEFC Photographer of the Year – Winner Announced!!

13 November 2017 Forests in photos

We are delighted to announce the winner and finalists of the 2017 PEFC Photographer of the Year Award.

Our photo contest called on photographers from around the world to show us what forests mean to them. And they really delivered: we received more than 11,000 fantastic photos!

With his stunning photo Morning Star taken in Bellecombe forest in France, we chose Gareth Goldthorpe as our 2017 PEFC Photographer of the Year.

Morning Star

“This is the first international photography competition I have won and so it is a major boost for my photographic morale (not to mention a means to updating some of my camera gear),” said Gareth, who won 3000 CHF for his winning image.

“When I am not running around the forest, looking for images to capture, I am a professional biodiversity conservationist and so the fact that the competition is organized by a sustainable forestry NGO is an added bonus for me.”

Joining Gareth are our other 11 finalists. From elephants in India, to hard work in Slovakia and a family enjoying the forest in Italy, we are delighted to share our winning images with you.
