Winning photos wow participants at PEFC Week

19 November 2019 Forests in photos

PEFC Forest Certification Week was not only the occasion to announce the winner of our 2019 ‘Experience Forests, Experience PEFC’ photo contest, we also displayed the top 12 photos in a week-long photo exhibition.

The exhibition gave participants the opportunity to take a short break from the formal work and get to see stunning waterfalls, tropical forests, wild animals and people enjoying the forest.

The highlight of the exhibition was our winning photo ‘Autumn Colours’. Taken by Sonia Fantini in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region in Italy, the photo shows the stunning landscape around Lake Bordaglia. “It is a magical place, in which the larches turn golden every autumn,” said the winning photographer.

Hear from Sonia, in her own words, why she loves the forest and the shocking story behind her winning photo.

“Congratulations to Sonia Fantini and the other 11 winning photographers,” said Ben Gunneberg, CEO of PEFC International. “The winning photos remind us once again how diverse, magical and wonderful the world’s forests are.”

“It was tough to pick 12 winners out of the many national winning photos we received from our members, but I am very pleased with our selection.”

“I hope you enjoy them as much as I do, and I’m already looking forward to the 2020 edition of our contest!” Ben concluded.
