PEFC Stakeholder Dialogue side events: what takes your interest?
27 October 2016 News
From how we can address the multiple challenges of the ‘landscape approach’ to certification, to how we can improve access to certification for community forests, there is something to interest everybody at the side events of our PEFC Stakeholder Dialogue.
Friday morning sees us break away from the typical plenary meeting to explore a selection of specific topics through our partner-run side events.
Take your pick, do you want to discuss the current situation of forest certification with the Malaysian Timber Certification Council, or perhaps explore the possible synergies coming out the of Indonesia FLEGT licensing system with the World Resources Institute?
Just make sure you have registered for the PEFC Stakeholder Dialogue, and the choice is yours. We look forward to seeing you in Bali!
A snapshot of the side events
Join Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) as they present the history of the development of conceptual frameworks designed for landscape-scale implementation. Key stakeholders from conservation, development and the private sector will also be on hand to share their experiences, both positive and negative, in attempting to address the multiple challenges in their respective landscapes.
What is really going on in a certified forest? How has certification contributed to the protection of biodiversity, species conservation and consideration of the needs of forest-dependent society? Join the Malaysian Timber Certification Council (MTCC) to get a glimpse of this as they bring together a wealth of experts, from researchers and practitioners to industry experts, to share their experiences.
Join the World Resources Institute (WRI) as they harness the wealth of knowledge at the Stakeholder Dialogue to explore the opportunities and possible synergies of the EU-funded FLEGT system. With the Indonesian FLEGT licensing system launched in the same week, it is the perfect time to discuss the key opportunities, challenges and solutions to achieving FLEGT-licensing objectives in Indonesia and internationally.
Join the Indonesian Forestry Certification Cooperation (IFCC) as they bring together experts from the ASEAN region to discuss and explore how group forest certification can better reach and benefit small-, family and community forests. Contribute your experiences and input as together we explore how the uptake and benefits of forest certification can be increased within Indonesia’s community forests and further afield.
