PEFC Denmark welcomes new Executive General

5 May 2015 News

With extensive experience in both Danish and international forestry, Mr. Thorøe has held a number of positions within this field since he graduated in forestry from Copenhagen University in 2003.

Before joining PEFC Denmark, Morten Thorøe has previously been Secretary General of the Confederation of European Forest Owners (CEPF) and Head of the International Family Forest Alliance (IFFA). He also has a thorough knowledge of forest certification through his work at the certification company Nepcon.

It is now Mr. Thorøe’s job to ensure that the certified forests and companies in Denmark get the right advice and services with their certification and to ensure a good relationship with all PEFC stakeholders in Denmark.

Another important task is to raise awareness of PEFC as a brand.

“PEFC Denmark has something unique to offer to the Danish forest owners, the wood industry and retailers and I am excited to show everybody that a PEFC certification is a good investment,” said Morten Thorøe.

“With Morten Thorøe as Executive Secretary, I believe we have the right person to make PEFC visible and to bring PEFC closer to the situation where far more wood in Denmark is sustainable and PEFC certified,” said Niels Peter Dalsgård Jensen, Chairman of PEFC Denmark.

In order to have an Executive Secretary who can focus 100% on expanding the PEFC system in Denmark, the PEFC secretariat is now separated from the Danish Forest Association, which was previously responsible for the operation of PEFC activities in Denmark.

Saying Farewell to Tanja Olsen

PEFC Denmark say thank you so much for the long and invaluable effort to the former Executive Secretary, Tanja Olsen, who has been part of PEFC Denmark since 1999.

Tanja will continue her work in the Danish Forest Association, where she will now focus on the association's business policy department that she is leading.
