It is our responsibility to take care of our forests

This November, we hear from Alfonsina Pereira, a runner up in our 2019 ‘Experience Forests, Experience PEFC’ photo contest.

In her video, Alfonsina shares the story behind her photo 'Carmen and Giacomo', and tells us more about beekeeping in a PEFC-certified forest.

“What inspired me in the forest to take the photo was one of the services it provides, which is beekeeping,” she explains.

“I feel very much related to this sector, because Carmen is my mother. She is a beekeeper who works in the production of organic honey in forests areas. This production is PEFC certified. My partner Giacomo and I want to start producing organic honey the way she produces it. The photograph portrays Giacomo's first approach to beekeeping.”

“I personally believe that forests are very important for our ecosystem and that it is our responsibility to take care of them, and to take care of the living beings that are part of them,” she continues.

“That's why I believe that organizations like PEFC are fundamental for the care and management of forests.”
