Implement Today for a Sustainable, Healthier Tomorrow – join us at the CGF Sustainable Retail Summit

22 October 2018 News

Zero-net deforestation is a key objective of the Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) and many of its member companies. To achieve it, the CGF has recognized forest certification as an important tool within its sourcing guidelines.

Sustainably managed forests provide many of the elements necessary for life on earth — air, water, food and shelter. Moreover, wood is renewable and one of the most environmentally friendly raw materials available, and the great news is, it is used in many of the products procured or manufactured by CGF members.

Corporate sustainability leaders also know that their choice of forest products has a direct impact on forests and communities around the world.

That’s why so many companies rely on forest certification systems, such as PEFC, to give them the supply chain assurances they need. In fact, the CGF members aim at using 100 percent certified material by 2020.

PEFC & SFI Special Breakfast Session

With ‘Implement Today for a Sustainable, Healthier Tomorrow’ the theme of the Sustainable Retail Summit, PEFC International, Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and PEFC Portugal will host a Special Breakfast Session within the SRS on 25 October at 8 am.

The session will discuss the importance of forest certification, highlighting how investing in certified forest products helps meet corporate sustainability targets, as well as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and how CGF members can benefit from sourcing certified forest products.

The breakfast session convenes representatives from the Consumer Goods Forum, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Sonae MC and The Navigator Company to discuss this topic in detail.

We look forward to seeing you there!
