Andreas Waldmueller’s image ‘Beech trees’ won first prize out of more than 100 photographs entered into the national competition.
“I love to walk through my forest. Whether it is to gather mushrooms for dinner, search for trees attacked by bark beetles, or simply to unwind,” explained amateur photographer and forest owner Mr. Waldmueller.
In second place was ‘Sunrise in summer’ by Robert Sommer, capturing the Glaskogen nature reserve in Sweden at the perfect moment, as the sun rose above the trees, illuminating the fog beautifully.
Peter Braunholz came in in third place with his image ‘Boy you turned me IV’, showing a surreal water reflection in the forests of the Harz region of Germany.
“I love nature, and especially trees. I want to use my photographs to show people the different facets of the beauty of the forest,” Mr. Braunholz commented.
The prizes
A jury picked the three winning images during PEFC Germany’s Annual General Assembly.
With his winning entry, Mr. Waldmueller won a 500 € voucher for a photo store.
Second-place finisher Mr. Sommer can look forward to barbecuing with a year’s supply of PEFC-certified ProFagus charcoal and a discount voucher for a barbecue on top.
Mr. Braunholz received a voucher for a PEFC-certified photo album for his third-placed photo.
