Certification, sustainable forest management and the landscape approach

“It’s very clear that certification and sustainable forest management fit neatly into the paradigm of the landscape approach,” highlights Dr. Terry Sunderland, following the conclusion of our PEFC Stakeholder Dialogue last week.

Terry is a Principal Scientist at CIFOR, the Center for International Forestry Research, an organization working heavily on the landscape approach.

“This meeting has been a fabulous opportunity for us to share our work, but also to learn from others who are working in the certification realm and knowing and seeing, now, how much synergy there is between us.”

Terry, alongside Dr. Sadanandan Nambiar, opened the 2016 PEFC Stakeholder Dialogue by sharing their insights and perspectives on how we can bridge the gap between sustainable forests, agriculture and food security.

Take a look at his reflections on the important link between certification, sustainable forest management and the landscape approach.
