PEFC Sustainable Wood Furniture Awareness Campaign Launch

PEFC Sustainable Wood Furniture Awareness Campaign Launch

Funiture event

Wood furniture supply chain sustainability and responsible procurement are critical to ensure that we all benefit from forest-based products now, while preserving the values for our future generations.

This can happen if we understand our roles and start working together to raise the bar and find sustainable solutions. This is why we are launching an awareness campaign to support Sustainable Furniture with a panel discussion.

Get a taste of what is to come with this short video about our work, and our new focus on furniture:

We launched our furniture campaign on Wednesday, 15 September, 10:00-11:00 CEST.

Check out the webinar recording:

The one-hour program featured a panel discussion on the responsible sourcing of forest-based materials for wood furniture. We welcomed four incredible panellists to share perspectives, and discussed the challenges to, and opportunities for, sustainability in the furniture sector.

Our panellists are representatives from:

  • Youth/Consumer
    Ms Alina Lehikoinen - President
    International Forestry Students' Association
  • Industry/Manufacturer
    Mr Nicolaas K. de Lange - Secretary-General
    ASEAN Furniture Industries Council
  • Forest Certification
Mr Alun Watkins - Executive Director of PEFC UK and Chairman of the Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme
  • Furniture retailer

The session was moderated by Michael Tatarski, a journalist who has covered forest sustainability issues extensively in Southeast Asia.

Together we can help each other reach high sustainability goals. We will also be providing resources specific to the furniture sector that can help you tell, and celebrate, your own sustainability story!
