PEFC International is looking for a Certification programme officer on a fix-term contract to cover a maternity leave, with the possibility of renewal.

Your mission

PEFC is a leading global alliance of national forest certification systems. As an international non-profit, non-governmental organisation, we are dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management through independent third-party certification.

You will be part of a dynamic, international team, and your main role will be to ensure the coordination of the operations of the PEFC forest certification systems globally and to manage the PEFC trademarks (usage and intellectual property protection).

You will be working as part of the Certification Programme Department, together with 6 other people.

Key responsibilities

Certification Program operations

  • Providing support and guidance to PEFC national members and coordinating the operations of the PEFC system across members
  • Providing assistance and training to new members on the operations of the PEFC system
  • Prepare contract agreements related to the operations of the system and coordinate signature
  • Data input on the PEFC databases
  • Receiving and forwarding complaints to appropriate body for its handling
  • Provide support to other certification program colleagues
  • Any other tasks as assigned by the Certification Programme Senior Manager

Trademarks management:

  • Coordination PEFC trademarks registrations
  • Ensuring harmonised use of the PEFC trademarks
  • Handling of PEFC trademarks misuses
  • Processing and issuing PEFC trademarks usage licences
  • Management of PEFC Label Generator and support to users
  • Exceptional usage approval

What we are looking for

  • Degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Business, Administration, Management, or any related fields. If you do not have qualification in these fields, but you have relevant experience and believe that you would be a good match and happy to conduct these tasks, please, do not hesitate to share your CV
  • Fluent speaking, writing and reading English
  • Good team player, excellent interpersonal skills with a proactive problem-solving approach to work and time-management skills
  • Precision and attention to detail, sense of responsibility, and flexibility while maintaining ability to work in a tight time schedule
  • Good sense of humor and positive attitude
  • Knowledge and prior experience with PEFC or in certification field is an added advantage.
  • Ideally, based in Geneva or surroundings. For non-Geneva based candidate, significant overlap of work hours with Geneva headquarter work time is needed
