Term of Office: 2022–2023
Richard is a commercially focused and versatile executive with strategic and hands-on experience covering sustainability, strategy development, communications, policy, and advocacy. He is practiced in continuous improvement, good governance, and risk mitigation.
Currently VP Communications for Huhtamaki, his responsibilities include government affairs and marketing communications. Previous roles in Huhtamaki include VP, Public Affairs and Sustainability Director for its FiberFoodservice segment, where he worked closely with FMCG and Foodservice customers. Prior to Huhtamaki, Richard held leadership positions in the private, public and association sectors, including the global sugar industry and the British Retail Consortium, where he was responsible for its standards.
He has significant expertise in stakeholder groups and industry organisations; currently representing the European packaging sector in the European Union's European Food Security Crisis Preparedness and Response Mechanism (EFSCM) and was a member of the steering committee, which established 4evergreen, wood-fiber's circularity platform.
Richard is a graduate and post-graduate of the University of Reading and is an alumnus of The Prince of Wales's Business & Sustainability Programme.
