The Best Use of Certified Timber Prize – supported by PEFC

For the third year in a row, PEFC is sponsoring the Best Use of Certified Timber Prize. The Prize rewards architects and project teams for using certified timber as the main construction material for outstanding buildings.

In the two years of running the prize, 79 architects from around the world have submitted their projects, and 20 were shortlisted for a live presentation to the WAF jury.

“In the last two years, we have seen a variety of great buildings entered into the Prize. We are very much looking forward to discovering this year’s entries,” said Fabienne Sinclair, Head of Marketing at PEFC International.

“We welcome all types of buildings, however small or big, from family homes and hotels to churches, office blocks, swimming pools and schools.”

Why enter?

The World Architecture Festival attracts over 2,200 senior architects and clients from around the world. Presenting your project at this event can help raise your profile and win new business.

In addition, the extensive media coverage of WAF, as well as PEFC, gives global exposure to the shortlisted projects. Previous projects have been covered by media channels ranging from CNN, Al Jazeera and the BBC, to The New York Times.

How to enter?

All projects entered for any of the ‘Completed Buildings’ award categories are eligible for the Best Use of Certified Timber Prize. Simply check the box next to "Please consider me for Best Use of Certified Timber Prize" under "Enter into additional WAF Prizes".

The use of certified wood products is a precondition for entering the prize. Timber used in construction should not be to the detriment of forest health, as with the previous entries, we are paying special attention to the use of PEFC-certified timber and project certification.
