Our Projects

We use our projects and partnerships to support the growth of forest certification around the world.

Our projects

Enhancing rural development in Spain through certified wild food products

Non-wood forest products

Moving certification beyond wood based products to include all products originating in forests is vital. Following on from our project focused on mushrooms, we supported the development of wild food products from certified Spanish forests.

Exploring pathways to deliver sustainable woody biomass

Innovation

Woody biomass from North America is an increasingly important renewable energy in Europe, but it must be produced sustainably. This project looked to improve the communication and coordination between the relevant stakeholders in Europe and the USA.

Developing tools to support small-forest owners achieve certification

Innovation

Forest certification can be a burden for many small- and family forest owners. By developing an online group registration and management system, this project sought to make their lives a little easier.

Protecting rare tree species in Malaysia

Research

Conservation of biodiversity and rare species is integral to sustainable forest management. This project supported the development of monitoring and conservation procedures for endangered species in Peninsular Malaysia.

Promoting forest certification to the forest managers of the future

Innovation

Forestry students are the future of forest management. Through this project, we provided forest certification training to the students and teachers of forestry and wood schools in Slovakia.
