"The efforts made in informing the Belgian public about what a PEFC labelled product means has been a real success, with more and more consumers looking for and recognising products that come from environmentally sound sources," said Vanessa Biebel, Secretary General of PEFC Belgium, commenting the organisation's activities of promoting PEFC at exhibitions and trade shows.
"In response, the number of businesses obtaining PEFC certification is continuously increasing, even in times of economic hardship, as PEFC certification also provides global market acceptance," Mrs. Biebel continued.
The first exhibition, the 'Hout en Groen Wonen,' took place on the 7th and 8th November, and highlighted the importance of building sustainably. It prominently featured themes related to certified timber, renewable energy, sustainable construction, and how to live healthily and naturally, are all to be featured prominently.
The second event, 'Prowood,' is an industry specific exhibition, and will be held between the 10th and 14th November. The event will focus on wood-industry professionals and technology at a global level. PEFC Belgium will inform visitors about PEFC certification for their enterprise and the wide range of PEFC labelled products that are currently on the market.
